classy enough.
Welcome to the first official post of The Modest Tip, where fashion and faith collide. We share tips and outfit ideas to help bring some light into your wardrobe while honoring the beauty that God has given you without exploiting it, ya feel me?
Fashion is a statement you make to people without opening your mouth to ever explain it; it’s how you introduce yourself to people and reveal your identity to them. Similarly, it’s like how a person with a police uniform on will let us know they are a police officer without them saying it, but permitting us to address them as such. How you carry yourself tells people how they should treat you because you are letting them know how you treat yourself and how you want to be treated by the statement you're making through your clothes. Now we know we can’t control every encounter we will have with people, let’s be honest, there are some interesting individuals out there, and your outfit alone is not the start nor finish of good and godly character. Still, your response will reflect how you conduct yourself.
Fashion also honors growth and healthy changes. People experience new desires, new tastes in style, and test things out in different stages in life, which is perfectly fine. You're a different person in your 40s than you were in your 20s; each decade of life is packed with different experiences that are shaping you into a different and hopefully better person. This journey, many times, is reflected through your sense of style, and it's a gorgeous thing to capture, letting go of the old, slowly introducing the new. In other words, new seasons gives new reason to start dressing new, so if your husband is wondering why you are swipping that card for new clothes just let him know,
“I’m in a new season hunny!”
“It’s a new season babyyyyyy!” Now he more than likely might not be dancing with you in return but he’ll get the point lol.
(disclaimer: make sure your still being finacially responsible. I’m not promoting irresponsibility now.)
In a world where society is ruled by trends and where expressing a beautiful personality is rare, we are bringing back the uniqueness in fashion with different styles because, as children of God, we have the privilege to be leaders and unique without following the trends. We are the trendsetters! Set apart for a reason, boo boo!
Here we will cover different styles and ways to dress yourself from street wear, minimalist, artsy, elegant, romantic, modest, preppy, etc!
Now, into our first outfit.
The focus of this outfit is comfort, style, versatility, minimalism, and class.
This is why we are going with a satin or silky collared button-up t-shirt paired up with a long jean skirt that fits the body accordingly, not to loose, and not to tight, giving room for comfort without looking a - well a hot mess. Giving it a nice put-together look without being overly serious. This is not just a versitle style for shoes and accessories but compatible with everybody type- from the slim girlies to the plus size girlies, from the shorties to the tall girls.
Now the Modest tip is not really meant for you to follow the outfit inspo exactly to the detail (unless you want to) but to give you inspiration to get your creativity flowing with whats akready in your closet or what you would like to add to it. For the top, you can do this with any collard t-shirt you may own, colors recommended to make it pop, instead of black, beige, or gray (though they can still work for this style). White could be a good option as well, and if you have a scarf, you can tie it around the collar of the shirt to give it a unique look. The long denim skirt brings forth comfort and a nice swag to the look that makes it compatible with both heels and a nice sneaker. Stay away from shoes that may clash with the outfit, for example, running shoes, high tops, and stay away from black long socks, as they would clash with the look of the satin/silk top but may go will with the standard collared top, an example with be provided below for more clarity on what I mean. . Some cute accessories for these outfits would be a belt within the ranges of brown, dark nudes, and even black (no white belt). A scarf to wrap around your neck, bracelets, earrings, and a necklace. The best part about this outfit is that the clothes do all the heavy lifting. The colored collared shirt, with a nice jean shirt.
All these woman look amazing but do you see how the black socks throws it off? The best option would be to do ankle length socks, keep them low. Another option you can try is white socks if you really want to go the high socks route or some really nice heels that match well with your accessories.
Better right?!
Locations or events you can wear this too:
Fit for brunch, museums, a date, coffee shop meet up, or exploring a city you're visiting, and even church. So, tell me, does this style suit you? Which style do you prefer sneakers or heels?, and how would you add your own twist to it? Comment below to let us know.
I pray that this was helpful, God bless you in Jesus name!
Also, If you would like to accept the love of God and His son, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, or even if you have backslidden and want to return to the Lord, here’s a prayer to guide you.
“ God almighty, I come before you to accept your love, to no longer reject you and what you have done for me. I choose to stop running from you and to finally stop rejecting myself of your love. Thank you for dying for me Lord Jesus, thank you for taking on my sins and shame. Thank you Lord that you became a curse for me so that I would no longer be bound by them but set free by your blood that was shed for me. Thank You for making yourself available to me, as friend, father, Lord, God, helper, comforter, savior, and all the good things I need in my life. Jesus I love you and ask you to help me keep loving you like how you want me to. I accept you completely as my Lord and savior, not what this world and demons have presented to me. Now I declare in the both spiritual and physical realm, that I not longer belong to Satan nor his Kingdom but according to Colossians 1:13, God has delivered me from the kingdom of darkness and has placed me in the Kingdom of light, where Jesus Christ is, I declare I belong to Jesus Christ and I now seat with Him In heavenly places. I rebuke all demonic retaliation in me making this decision and come into agreement with a sound mind in Jesus’ name. I repent, renounce, denounce, and divorce myself from all the sins I’ve committed (list what you can remember) and break the evil covenants associated with them, and I declare once again I am a part of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray and seal this prayer in His blood, Amen.”
Hallelujah! Congratulations if you made this decision. I pray that you prevail in your walk in the Lord, that forces of darkness continue to fail concerning you, and that the forces of light continue to persevere and propel you in the name of Jesus.
And if you have not yet, get yourself a Bible. Please, it’s a lot of ghetto foolishness concerning Christianity and religion. The Bible is the only way to protect you from it and will show you how to be a Christian and have a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
