the purpose of purpose.

Truth is, many of us are the generational curse breakers in our family’s bloodline. Although in church services this may feel empowering when we hear it, the reality is these are some of the toughest hurdles we will have to overcome when we are actually facing these things in the warzone to tear them down. The weight can feel overbearing at times, as if you don’t know whether or not you can take it anymore, or it may seem like you're not making progress because everything seems bad or even appears to have gotten worse. You can become bitter and have some resentment toward the people whom you feel have failed you because they didn't do their part to prepare the way for you. Unfortunately, you feel like you have double the responsibility to repair the roads that they should’ve repaired or the roads that they messed up themselves so that you could focus on yourself and what God placed inside of you to be responsible for. Your feelings are valid, and there was likely a lack of responsibility from those who came before you, or even from some who came after you, like younger family members who have been made “your” responsibility to take care of. I pray that the Lord heals you from having to carry such burdens and that you forgive and let go of the heaviness that has come into your heart in the form of bitterness and resentment, because truth is God had allowed some of those things to occur to help shape and mold you for the blessings and assignment that he had on your life. Where the enemy thought he was going to break you, what the devil meant for evil God will turn it around for your good, not to remain as a slave to these things but to be repositioned to set the captives free. To be a good mother, faithful steward, an effective intercessor, a kingdom businesswoman, a reliable sister in Christ, and a beautiful daughter. Someone whom God can trust to advance his kingdom on the earth.

We will be referencing two stories in this blog post: the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis, Chapters 37-50, and the story of a young King David in 1 Samuel 17.

Joseph was just 17 years old when the Lord began revealing the great things he had planned for his life through a series of dreams. However, Joseph had not yet gone through his process to be able to steward those things that God had called him to with maturity. He had to grow through life experiences first; yes, you read that correctly, grow. The journey to this process began through his first betrayal by his brothers, who sold him; then he experienced another betrayal by being falsely accused of sexual assault by Potiphar’s wife, a man who Jospeh was serving faithfully; however, he was sent to prison after she lied. This led to another delay, where he experienced being forgotten by people he helped with the ability to interpret dreams. This was not about whether or not Joseph did something wrong to deserve this type of treatment but about what God was building him to be. You see Joseph had only gotten a glimpse of the prophecy that God placed over his life and even with that he did not know the weight of it, it was actually his jealous brothers and father who interpreted the meaning of the dream but disapproved of it because they thought Joseph was implying that he would be in a position where they would one day serve him, which ended up coming to pass. His intentions were never evil when he shared it; however, there was an immaturity and lack of discernment that caused him to so loosely share something so sacred without wisdom. His being given over to the Egyptians to be made a slave was not his fault, but what he shared with his brothers was the beginning to many lessons the Lord would begin to show him through experiences. Joseph had to know the value God placed inside of Him.

Something we should realize here is that Joseph was always put in a position where he served after the betrayal. His worship unto God never stopped; he continued to serve, and though he may have experienced some pain, he had built the capacity to be able to serve even though he had been betrayed. The Lord actually showed Joseph great favour no matter where he was, so much so that wherever Joseph was, God would show favor that impacted the environment that he was in. God had to let Joseph know that He was great not because of a great position but because God was always with him. The hand of God was actually on Joseph’s life more than ever during the toughest circumstances because in the midst of this God was putting Joseph in the highest positions as a servant so that he would learn how to be good steward and a good leader because little did Joseph know God was about to do exceedingly and abundantly above what he could ask and think of, above what God had revealed to him in dreams.

In the era of social media and where having a ministry with a platform has become more about popularity than impact, it can be easy to assume that we are only effective as people when we have others giving us compliments or watching us, but it is not about that at all. True impact is when you're serving before heaven and heaven is watching you. God promoting you doesn't always need a crowd of earthly witnesses because it was never about how much people see you with your blessings, but instead God getting the glory in your life when he does bless you. (When I tell you that the Holy Spirit knows how to spit the truth, I thank God for revelation).

Joseph was just in the waiting season before God brought His increase. The wait was not God delaying anything but preparing Joseph for everything that God had in store for him, and when the time finally came, it happened in an instant, though the preparation happened through years. Sometimes a season of God teaching you and preparing you for something may take years and not an actual season, but when he finally gives it to you, what you suffered is nothing compared to what he will bless you with. Keep your head up and keep going. You may not understand what is going on, and I know it may seem like nothing is going for you, but God is cooking up something great for you. Remain faithful with the foundational things: worship God, serve him, meditate on his word daily, maintain a strong prayer life, surrender to him all that you are, feel, and have, and watch the King of Kings pop up and show you his mighty arm of salvation.

Fast forward to when Joseph is 30 years old. With the things that God trained him up with, Joseph was able to be a solution to a problem, and through that God restored Joseph by using Pharaoh to put Joseph second in command to Pharaoh. Joseph went from being a prisoner to becoming like Pharaoh unto the people; he had the greatest authority among the people. When famine came into the land, the Lord had given Joseph the wisdom to prepare for it, allowing not only Egypt to successfully survive the famine but also to sell to people of different nations to help them as well. It was in this position that Joseph was able to help his brothers and father; this is where the prophecy was fulfilled. He was able to see what God proposed his hardship for. Imagine if Joseph was so focused on trying to prove himself to his brothers that he would’ve wasted time trying to become the “best” as a form of vengeance that he missed his bigger purpose, to help the nations of the earth by the hand of God.

Joseph responds to his brother's plea for forgiveness with Genesis 50:20: "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring it about as it is today, to save many people alive”.

What would make Joseph say something like this?

You see, Joseph had not only endured so much, but he also learned the meaning of all that he had gone through. He understood that his purpose was bigger than betrayal; he understood that the coat of colors was not just affirming who he was but a prophecy of who God marked him to be. He knew that God had brought him into a position of such leadership that he could save lives from perishing from a famine, including his brothers. If Joseph had not gone through his process, his brothers would not have had the opportunity to live, to be forgiven, and to be a part of a plan that God had for them to be a representation of the tribes of Israel, God’s chosen people.

The Lord had given me this revelation through a rebuke he had for me. I had gotten discouraged and frustrated about the state of my relationship with some of my family members and really how they just behaved. I had gotten exhausted from always having to be the bigger person because I had felt that it should not have been my responsibility to try to “fix” their character. The truth was the Lord never put that pressure on me; I had allowed others to put it on me and eventually put it on myself, a form of pride saying that I could change a person because I thought that just because I knew Jesus they would have to change as soon I presented him in the conversation, and that is not how it works. Things don’t work based on our control, and everyone has the freedom to make their own decisions. True change comes with conviction, not by force. However, the Lord had to show me that his ways are not like my ways. That I must obey him and build the visions that he has given me because in that, those around me will see the goodness and glory of God and come to him and want to have a relationship with him. Sometimes God is not calling you to preach about him to others but to be a sign and wonder, so that others would believe the God you worship is real. This is not about looking wealthy or intelligent before men, but about allowing God to shine in all areas of your life whether that be your character, finances, living situation, how you're impacting the lives of those in your community, content creation, etc. People will see you as allow God to be completely seen in your life. We don’t get to control how prophecy comes to pass in our lives, we just trust God that it will happen.

1 Samuel 17

We all have at some point heard of the story of Goliath and David. How God used a courageous teenage boy to defeat a giant who belonged to the Philistine camp and taunted the Israelite camp for 40 days and 40 nights. Truth is, the Israelites were afraid of this Giant, not because He was bigger than them but because they did not remember their identity as children of Israel, God’s chosen people. Instead of placing their faith in who the Lord is, they saw their human strength as something that required the strength of Yahweh Sabaoth. So when David approached the scene, he came with the God he served in mind. He knew that the victory was not in skill or size, but in who the true living God was, and because he had such confidence, it intimidated some people like his brother, because insecurity can have the ability to misperceive someone else’s confidence as arrogance. God wanted the glory from this battle, so he used the unlikely to destroy the giant; he knew that this teenage boy would give him the glory. However, David destroying the giant was not the full battle but the beginning of it. Scripture tells us that after David slew the giant, the Israelite army ran after and destroyed the Philistine camp, the same camp that they were afraid of for 40 days because of the giant. If David had not gone before them, they would have never gone to pursue what was ahead of them.

Some people won't encounter God’s salvation (deliverance) until you go first because your life will testify to them of God’s goodness when they see you.

Some people won’t walk in their purpose until you secure and build in the career path that God wants you too, because it will be an avenue for people to receive and encounter him. In other words, if you don’t walk in your purpose, others won't walk in theirs.

Prayer:

Lord, how can I serve you in this season of waiting in my life?  Help me to be consistent in building, so that I don’t delay myself by complaining. Keep me focused and not distracted. Help me to trust you during this process and to steward this time of development well by allowing you to do a work for me, in Jesus' name. Amen.

There are many other examples of people going ahead and shift others to be repositioned in the spots God had for them, and it all involves families. Revival in families is a part of God’s will.

Examples:

If Esther had not gone first, Mordecai would not have been in position to be the king's right-hand man in the affairs of the kingdom to save the Jews by using the king's signet ring to make decrees in the Jews' favor.

If Abraham had not gone first, disobeyed the Lord by not going where he told him to go and doing what he told him to do, there would be no Issac, and Jacob, and we would not have the covenant of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob available to us today.

Thank you for reading, God bless you.

This is a really important decision that comes with urgency because no person should be living without Jesus during these times, we need him more than ever and doing life with Him is better than doing life soley on oxygen. Also, If you would like to accept the salvation of Jesus Christ, making as Lord and Savior in your life, or even if you have backslidden and want to return to the Lord, here’s a prayer to guide you.

“ God almighty, I come before you to accept your love, to no longer reject you and what you have done for me. I choose to stop running from you and to finally stop rejecting myself of your love. Thank you for dying for me Lord Jesus, thank you for taking on my sins and shame. Thank you Lord that you became a curse for me so that I would no longer be bound by them but set free by your blood that was shed for me. Thank You for making yourself available to me, as friend, father, Lord, God, helper, comforter, savior, and all the good things I need in my life. Jesus I love you and ask you to help me keep loving you like how you want me to. I accept you completely as my Lord and savior, not what this world and demons have presented to me. Now I declare in the both spiritual and physical realm, that I not longer belong to Satan nor his Kingdom but according to Colossians 1:13, God has delivered me from the kingdom of darkness and has placed me in the Kingdom of light, where Jesus Christ is, I declare I belong to Jesus Christ and I now seat with Him In heavenly places. I rebuke all demonic retaliation in me making this decision and come into agreement with a sound mind in Jesus’ name. I repent, renounce, denounce, and divorce myself from all the sins I’ve committed (list what you can remember) and break the evil covenants associated with them, and I declare once again I am a part of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray and seal this prayer in His blood, Amen.”

Hallelujah! Congratulations if you made this decision. I pray that you prevail in your walk in the Lord, that forces of darkness continue to fail concerning you, and that the forces of light continue to persevere and propel you in the name of Jesus.

And if you have not yet, get yourself a Bible. Please, it’s a lot of ghetto foolishness concerning Christianity and religion. The Bible is the only way to protect you from it and will show you how to be a Christian and have a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
